چکیده

Ticks are the most important ectoparasites that responsible for severe economic losses in livestock industry. The use of chemical acaricides is common method used to control ticks livestock. This study was conducted determine efficacy Aspergillus oryzae as an alternative biological agent controlling enhance productivity. A. at different concentrations evaluated against larvae and adults hard tick genera Rhipicephalus, Boophilus, Amblyomma using immersion test under laboratory conditions. Field trials were two purposively selected cattle herds Monduli district, northern Tanzania. a concentration 1 × 106 conidial/ml sprayed on all tick-infested areas. results demonstrated concentration-related increase mortality both adult female engorged ticks. mean statistically significant p ? 0.05 0.001, respectively. Egg production found decrease with increased concentration. Additionally, there difference egg index oviposition reduction (p = 0.009) while no hatching product effectiveness 0.089 0.004, respectively between tested ticks’ genera. Under field conditions, bio-acaricide treated cattle. concludes has good acaricidal activity hence, one potential methods sustainable schemes. Key words: oryzae, bio-acaricide, entomopathogenic fungi, cattle, ticks,

Laboratory Study on Biological Control of Ticks (Acari: Ixodidae) by Entomopathogenic Indigenous Fungi (Beauveria bassiana)

BACKGROUND Chemical control method using different acaricides as spray, dipping solution or pour-on is routinely used for controlling ticks. Biological control agents are favorable due to their safety for animals and environment. Entomopathogenic fungi such as Beauveria bassiana are well known for controlling ticks. In this study, two Iranian indigenous strains of B. bassiana (B. bassiana 5197 ...

Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis and biological control of Ixodes ricinus using entomopathogenic fungi

In the present study, pathogenicity of four native strains of Entomopathogenic fungus; Metarhizium anisopliae, was studied against adult stage of Ixodes ricinus. For this purpose a total number of 180 adult ticks were examined in triplicate. Thirty ticks for each strain and negative and positive controls were immersed in 2.4×107 fungal conidia/ml in vitro. Samples were incubated in separate Pet...

Microbial Control of Pests: Entomopathogenic Fungi as Mycoinsecticides

Within the frame of this ISCB project, a biological approach based on the introduction of specific fungi that are highly pathogenic for Helicoverpa, will be developed to control the dreaded pests. Biological control using insectpathogenic fungi as mycoinsecticides is an appealing alternative to the application of chemicals. Entomophthoralean fungi can easily be massproduced on cheap substrates....

The efficacy of amitraz against cattle ticks in Tanzania.

The efficacy of amitraz on cattle ticks was assessed by susceptibility tests, spraying and dipping trials. Tests on the susceptibility of three tick species, Rhipicephalus appendiculatus, Amblyomma variegatum and Boophilus decoloratus to amitraz (technical grade-purity 98.6% w/w) showed all 15 tick strains tested to be highly susceptible, with LC50 ranging between 0.001% and 0.03%, and LC99, be...
